Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk attended a sod-turning ceremony for Echo Entertainment’s new six-star hotel tower that is to be added to the existing Jupiters Hotel and Casino complex. The Australian gambling operator is planning to spend a total of A$345 million on the construction of the facility as well as on the refurbishment of the entire resort.

The hotel tower is expected to be completed late in 2017 or early in 2018, right on time for the Commonwealth Games. The 17-story hotel will feature a total of 70 luxury and spacious rooms and is intended to attract international tourists, particularly Asian high rollers, who are known to enjoy comfort and first-class service.

Commenting on the ambitious project, Premier Palaszczuk said that it was a powerful statement to the commitment of both Echo Entertainment and Queensland officials to turn the state into even more attractive tourist destination. She also added that more than 800,000 visitors from around the globe annually travel to the Gold Coast and that her office is determined to increase those numbers even more.

As mentioned above, the new Jupiters hotel is to be completed early in 2018 and is intended to accommodate visitors of the Commonwealth games. The property is expected to create more than 1,700 temporary and permanent jobs.

The new hotel tower will feature 70 rooms varying from 80 square meters for the standard ones to the 300-square-meter penthouse, which will be overlooking the Gold Coast. Apart from those, Echo Entertainment’s plan includes the refurbishment of the rest of the complex, as well as the addition of new food and beverage and entertainment options.

Matt Bekier, Chief Executive Officer of the hotel and casino company, noted that they aimed at celebrating the Gold Coast with their project. For that purpose, they have been working with both local and international designers and architects so as to ensure that the new hotel will resonate local community and will be found attractive by domestic as well as foreign tourists.

John O’Neill, Chairman of Echo Entertainment, commented that it was of the utmost importance to them to turn Jupiters into a world-class integrated resort and thus contribute to the transformation of the Gold Coast area into an even more popular tourist destination. The executive promised that the 17-story tower will offer guests “new levels of luxury” with the best amenities as well as first-class service.

Once completed, the renovated Jupiters complex is expected to annually attract thousands of both domestic and international tourists and to generate about a quarter of Echo Entertainment’s entire revenue.
