The €50,000 Super High Roller, the first of several major events in the EPT Season 12 Barcelona’s schedule, was completed late last night with Frenchman Sylvain Loosli emerging victorious over a field of 99 of the world’s best poker professionals.

All the entries created a prize pool of €4,753,485 and the money was distributed among the top 15 finishers, with the payouts starting from €80,800.

Day 3 of the event, its final one, saw nine players returning for the official final table. It took 8 hours and 6 levels of play before the heads-up match between Loosli and Polish poker pro Dzmitry Urbanovich was set.

The young Pole almost repeated his success as he won one EPT High Roller event earlier this year. The player topped the field of the €25,000 High Roller in the inaugural EPT Malta poker festival and captured a payout of €572,300. However, the odds were clearly not in his favor last night and he only had to content with the runner-up finish.

The heads-up play lasted almost 2 hours and it started with Loosli holding 12,860,000 in chips against his opponent’s stack of 11,880,000. During the match, the Frenchman managed to gradually extend his lead until he took hold of all the chips in play.

On what turned out to be the last hand in play, Urbanovich moved all-in pre-flop and Loosli called immediately. The Frenchman tabled [5h][5d] and his opponent turned [Jd][10s]. The board ran out [Kh][4d][2h][5c][Ks] securing Loosli with a full house, the tournament trophy, and a first-place prize of €1,224,000. As for Urbanovich, he took home the amount of €841,500.

Including last night’s victory, Loosli’s live tournament earnings currently amount to a little less than $4.5 million. The player is now 4th in his country’s all time money list. Apart from first-place finishes in a number of prestigious tournaments, Loosli is also a former November Niner. He finished 4th in the 2013 WSOP Main Event for a payout of $2,792,533, his best live cash so far.

And here are the rest of the players who returned for Day 3 of the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller and their respective payouts:

German Christoph Vogelsang finished 3rd to capture the amount of €551,485. JC Alvarado from Mexico took 4th place for €446,800. Australian Michael Egan received a payout of €358,900 for his 5th place in the event.

Ivan Luca from Argentina scooped €280,500 for finishing 6th. Irishman Steve O’Dwyer took 7th place for €221,000. English player Paul Newey finished 8th to collect €168,700. Byron Kaverman from the United States rounded out the final table for €123,600.
