Lifestyle

It could be seen after the traditional Wednesday update of the GPI leaderboard that American poker pro Isaac Haxton is this week’s biggest climber. The player moved up 130 positions and now ranks 154th with a total of 2,093.33 points collected over the past nine months.

This year, the New York-born player, who currently resides in Malta with his wife, cashed in three different events to collect more than $300,000. He appeared at the tables of the EPT Season 11 Grand Final festival held this spring at Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco. The player finished 30th in €10,600 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for a payout of €29,900 ($33,552) and 17th in the €25,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed to scoop €70,000 ($78,023) of the entire prize pool.

It was only a few days ago when Haxton took 6th place in the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €25,000 High Roller 8 Max to receive a total of €199,200 ($228,944).

Overall, the player’s live tournament earnings amount to $9,828,165. Hexton’s first major achievement was his runner-up finish in the 2007 PCA $8,000 WPT Championship No-Limit Hold’em. The player won the amount of $861,789 after a thrilling heads-up match against Ryan Daut.

Major cash number two came two and a half years later. Haxton took part in the 2009 WSOP $40,000 No-Limit Hold’em, held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the world’s biggest poker festival, and almost won that special event. Yet, he had to content himself with a second-place finish for $1,168,565.

In 2013, the player scooped yet another major cash of HK$10,200,000 ($1,313,879) for his 5th place in the GuangDong Asia Millions HK$1,000,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. Haxton won his best live cash so far in February 2014. A runner-up finish in the Aussie Millions Poker Championship A$250,000 No-Limit Hold’em secured him with a payout of A$2,820,000 ($2,525,841). As it could be seen, the player cannot boast of a major poker title but is most definitely among the most prolific professionals of our time.

Haxton started playing poker when he turned 18. At first, he frequented a local casino to learn the game but later on started playing at online poker rooms. The player has repeatedly pointed out that he feels more comfortable playing online.

He has gradually turned into one of the most profitable online players, winning millions of dollars at the tables of PokerStars and Full Tilt under the screen names ‘luvtheWNBA’, ‘Ike Haxton’, and ‘philivey2694’. It is also interesting to note that Haxton is a member of the team of PokerStars-sponsored online pros.
