Mustapha Kanit is a name that has been gaining quite a lot of popularity since the beginning of the year. The Italian professional poker player topped the fields of a number of prestigious events, both live and online, to collect more than $3.5 million in tournament earnings over the past nine months.
After his latest victory during the EPT Season 12 Barcelona poker festival, the young Italian climbed the impressive 45 positions in the GPI leaderboard to reach his personal best rank. Currently, the player is taking 9th place with a total of 3,580.03 points.
At the age of 24, Kanit has already achieved what many have been striving for. What is more, only within the course of nine months, he managed to win two EPT high roller events, two major online tournaments, and the inaugural Global Poker Masters. Achievements of this kind speak volumes about the abilities of a given player.
As mentioned above, the Italian poker pro had three big live victories this year. First, he won the first-ever Global Poker Masters poker tournament, which took place during the inaugural EPT Season 11 Malta poker festival. Kanit together with his teammates Dario Sammartino, Andrea Dato, Giuliano Bendinelli, and Rocco Palumbo, or Team Italy, played heads-up against Team Russia, to become the first world Global Poker Masters champions.
In May, the player emerged victorious in the EPT Season 11 Grand Final €50,000 No-Limit Super High Roller 8-Handed to capture the amount of €936,500 ($1,048,243), his best live cash so far. Last but not least, Kanit won yet another EPT high roller event only a few days ago. He topped the field of the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €10,300 No-Limit High Roller 8 Max for a first-place prize of €738,759 ($834,303).
As for his online victories this year, the Italian poker pro won the 2015 Spring Championship of Online Poker $10,300 High Main Event. He collected $1.3 million of the entire prize pool for his triumph. Kanit also emerged victorious in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series XXVIII Main Event early this spring.
The player’s live tournament earnings currently amount to $4,629,837, which means that he is ranking 1st in Italy’s all-time money list. Apart from his success on the felt, Kanit is extremely profitable online. He has collected more than $4.2 million at the tables of online poker rooms PokerStars and Full Tilt. Kanit plays under the screen names ‘lasagnaaammm’ and ‘mustacchione’ on PokerStars and ‘potta_x_potta’ on Full Tilt.
