The five-day Redbet LIVE Dublin €350 Main Event was completed late on Monday with Irish player Dermot Allen topping the field and capturing the first-place prize of €15,570.
The Main Event attracted a field of 203 players from various nationalities. They created a prize pool of €64,145, which was distributed among the top 23 finishers. Payouts started from €690.
The event’s last day saw 8 players returning to play the final table and determine the champion. The day started with Konstantin Kostyakov from Ukraine as the chip leader. The player held a total of 2,735,000 in chips and was followed by Bulgarian Daniel Chutrov with 1,720,000 and Francisco Fernandez from Spain with 1,680,000. At first, the eventual champion was among the short stacks but he managed to catch up and grab the title in the end.
Theo Steimer from Switzerland was the first to go. In fact, the player was eliminated by Allen himself. Steimer took home the amount of €1,825 for his 8th place in the event.
Radoslaw Wesierski from Ireland was eliminated next. His 7th place secured him with a payout of €2,520. Poland’s Damian Porebski took 6th place in the event to collect €3,405. The player, too, fell victim to Allen.
The Irishman next defeated Fernandez. The Spaniard scooped €4,390 of the prize pool for finishing 5th in the event. Chutrov was the next to go. He was sent to 4th place by Kostyakov. The Bulgarian’s payout amounted to €5,475. Michal Falar from the Czech Republic finished 3rd in the Main Event for €6,885.
Thus, Allen had to face Kostyakov heads-up. On what turned out to be the last hand in play, the Irish player limped on the button with [9s][7d] against his opponent’s [9d][9h]. The board ran out [4s][5s][6s], which gave Allen really good chances for a flush.
The players checked and the dealer placed [9c] on the turn. Kostyakov bet 200,000 and Allen raised to make his opponent move the rest of his chips in. The river came [8c] securing Allen with a straight. The Ukrainian took home €10,340 for his runner-up finish.
And Allen received the tournament trophy and the amount of €15,750 for his triumph. This has been his best live cash and after last night’s victory his live tournament winnings now amount to $22,436. Allen has cashed only in Irish poker events so far.
