Sean Winter Climbs in GPI Ranking

Poker player Sean Winter from Jacksonville, Florida was among the ones who moved up after this week’s update of the GPI leaderboard. He climbed three positions and now ranks 38th with 3,057.71 points that he has managed to collect since the beginning of 2015. As for his place in the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard, he now ranks 73rd for a second consecutive year with 2,137.79 points.

Winter has had his most profitable year, collecting a total of $914,089 in 9 different events. The player cashed in the PCA, Borgata Spring Poker Open/WPT World Championship, 46th WSOP, Bellagio Cup XI, Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, and several other WPT events.

In January, Winter scooped $25,260 in a PCA No-Limit Hold’em event. In April, he added a small amount of money to his existing bankroll for finishing 8th in a Borgata Spring Poker Open/WPT World Championship tournament.

As mentioned above, the player was also spotted at the tables of the 46th Annual WSOP. There, he cashed in two events, with the $10,000 Main Event being among them. He finished 606th in it to receive the amount of $17,282. A 15th place in another WSOP event secured him with a payout of $27,876.

July was particularly profitable for the Jacksonville-based player. He captured his best live cash for topping the field of the Bellagio Cup XI $10,400 No-Limit Hold’em event. Originally, the winner was to receive more than $700,000 of the overall prize pool, which amounted to $2.9 million. However, Winter collected $562,772 instead, after a four-way deal with fellow poker players Dominik Nitsche, Byron Kaverman, and Nicholas Petrangelo, who took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places, respectively.

In August, Winter finished 3rd in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $25,400 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller event to capture the amount of $245,500 of the entire prize pool. As mentioned above, the player also cashed in several WPT events over the past nine months.

Following this successful year, Winter’s career live tournament earnings now amount to $1,625,189. He has collected those since 2011 and in a total of 33 different and quite prestigious events.

Apart from his victory at the Bellagio Cup XI and his 3rd place in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open High Roller event, the player can also boast of a second-place finish in the 2014 Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Main Event. His share of the prize pool amounted to $270,000. Winter is also a one-time winner of the 2014 Card Player Poker Tour Jacksonville No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for a first-place prize of $84,000.
