Ben Beighle Wins 2015/16 WSOP Horseshoe Southern Indiana $365 Pot-Limit Omaha with Re-buys

The 2015/16 WSOP Horseshoe Southern Indiana $365 Pot-Limit Omaha with Re-buys or Event #9 in the schedule of the poker tournament’s Indiana stop was completed Friday night. Ben Beighle from Cincinnati, Ohio topped the field to capture a first-place prize of $22,406 and his first WSOP Circuit gold ring.

The $365 Pot-Limit Omaha event attracted 76 entries. However, it had a total of 431 re-buys, which were worth $100 each, as well as add-ons averaging 5.6 re-buys and add-ons per each player. Thus, a prize pool of $65,900 was created. The top 8 finishers got their share of the money, with payouts starting from $2,633.

It took two days of play before the name of the winner was announced. Day 1 was completed once the eight-handed final table was set. Day 2 started with Joseph Worth as the chip leader. The player had 384,000 in chips. The eventual winner was seventh in chips at the beginning of the day with a total of 108,500 in chips.

It was John Nelson from Curtice, Ohio whom Beighle faced heads-up. Play continued for some time with the chips swinging back and forth. Eventually, Beighle emerged victorious to collect the biggest share of the prize pool and capture his first career gold ring.

As for Nelson, he had to settle for the runner-up finish and a consolation prize of $13,864. Back in 2012, the player won his first and only gold ring for topping the field of a $345 No-Limit Hold’em event.

Joseph Worth from Lakeland, Florida finished 3rd to scoop a payout of $9,126. Michael Lutz from Louisville, Kentucky took 4th place to collect $6,388 of the prize pool. One-time gold ring winner Brian McKain from Scottsburg, Indiana received $4,734 for finishing 5th in the event. The player won his piece of WSOP Circuit jewelry in 2007 for triumphing in a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em.

Chad Hahn from Westfield, Indiana took 6th place for $3,702. Larry Fesmire from Charlotte, North Carolina finished 7th to collect $3,047. Cory Wood from Murfreesboro, Tennessee took 8th place and was paid $2,633 for his efforts.

With Event #9 being wrapped up, there are only 3 more gold rings up for grabs at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The tournament is scheduled to run through October 12.
