News

Greek lottery and gaming giant INTRALOT announced that subsidiary INTRALOT Global Holdings had penned a ten-year agreement with International Lottery and Gaming Ltd. (ILGL) to provide Nigeria with its lottery technology and other related products and services.

Under the contract, the new lottery is to commence operations before the end of the year. INTRALOT has promised that it would support the Nigerian lottery with innovative technology, exciting games, and other related content through a Points-of-Sales network.

Commenting on the new agreement, Nikos Nikolakopoulos, Chief Operating Officer of INTRALOT Group, said that the introduction of its product offering in Nigeria is part of the company’s strategy to establish itself in the developing African gambling market. The executive further noted that they are extremely happy with the opportunity to provide ILGL with their catalog of lottery-related services and products.

Mr. Nikolakopoulos also promised that the INTRALOT team will work closely together with the Nigerian lottery in order ensure that their common vision for the success of the newly introduced technology and gaming content will be successfully implemented and Nigeria-based players will be presented with the most exciting possible gaming experience.

ILGL Vice-Chairman Ronaldo Minaise said that the lottery had been granted the necessary regulatory approval to commence operations in Nigeria. The official said that it is their goal to offer “the best, most credible, and trustworthy” experience to all lottery customers based in the country.

Currently, Nigeria is the most populated country across Africa with a population of about 174 million people. What is more, the country is also one of the biggest economies on the continent with annual GDP growth rate of more than 6% posted for 2014.

Here it is also important to mention that INTRALOT has signed yet another important contract within the span of the past week. Last Tuesday, the lottery giant announced that INTRALOT, Inc., its North American subsidiary, had once again been selected as the preferred gaming vendor for the New Mexico Lottery.

Under the terms of the agreement, the lottery supplier will provide the state of New Mexico with its gaming terminals as well as a selection of its related products for a period of eight years. INTRALOT signed its first contract with the state back in 2006.
