Shawn Van Asdale Wins 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-entry

Shawn Van Asdale from Reno, Nevada bested the massive field of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-entry to receive the amount of $40,898 in prize money and his first WSOP Circuit gold ring.

Event #2 on the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe attracted a huge field of 665 entries who created a prize pool of $199,500. The top 72 finishers received their share of the money, with payouts starting from $559 for the 72nd-place finisher.

The #365 No-Limit Hold’em featured three starting flights and it took three days of play before the name of the champion was announced. Day 2, the event’s final one, saw 86 players returning. Cary Marshall started the day as the chip leader with a total of 227,000 in chips. Van Asdale was fourth in chips at the beginning of play.

The official nine-handed final table was reached after the dinner break. It started with Marty Gorenc holding the majority of chips in play. Van Asdale was third with 950,000. At first, the final table was off at a really slow pace. Eventually, Van Asdale had to face Brett Murray from Santa Rosa, California heads-up. Both players contended for their first-ever WSOP Circuit gold ring. Clearly, it was not Murray’s lucky night and he had to settle for the runner-up finish and the amount of $25,307.

As for the winner, he collected his biggest WSOP-related cash of $40,898. Prior to last night’s victory, Van Asdale has cashed in 8 WSOP Circuit and 7 WSOP events. Including last night’s first-place prize, his total WSOP and Circuit winnings now amount to more than $120,000.

Joseph Brown from Bolivar, Missouri finished 3rd in the $365 No-Limit Hold’em event to collect $18,561 of the prize pool. Marty Gorenc from Reno, Nevada took 4th place for a payout of $13,803. One-time gold ring winner Paul Cookson from Fair Oaks, California received $10,404 for his 5th place in the event.

Jon Andlovec from Mound House, Nevada took 6th place to scoop $7,946. Edward Mero from Pleasanton, California finished 7th for $6,149. Two-time gold ring winner Cary Marshall from Sun Valley, Nevada was paid $4,820 for finishing 8th in the event. Monte Young from Livermore, California took 9th place for $3,826.
