Bloomberry said in a Wednesday filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange that the investigation was concerned with the so-called “LVegas Casino” gaming tax payment practices, introduced by Jeju Sun’s previous owners and management.
The suspension will be effective as of Monday, November 16 and is slated to end on Tuesday, December 15. Bloomberry pointed out that the venue will be ready to be relaunched on December 16, right in time for the upcoming holidays tourist peak. Jeju Sun is currently being upgraded and will debut new and expanded existing facilities when it reopens doors for visitors.
Bloomberry purchased the casino through its South Korean subsidiary Solaire Korea Co. Ltd. The venue was then rebranded Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino.
The gambling operator said in its filing that hotel operations would not be affected during the upcoming one-month casino suspension. Bloomberry also noted that it will use the one-month period to complete the upgrade and renovation of the casino floor and related facilities, as well as the expansion of the ball room.
The December 16 reopening will represent Phase Two of a multi-stage renovation plan, which Bloomberry commenced in May 2014. The gambling operator has added new food and beverage and entertainment options, as well as premium gambling facilities. The main lobby area has also been refurbished.
Once completed, Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino will offer guests of the complex as many as 208 luxury hotel rooms and suites, more than 2,000-square-meter casino floor, numerous dining options, some of which offering traditional cuisine and others featuring international food options. The multi-purpose hotel and casino resort will also provide a number of beverage options, hotel facilities, and top class entertainment amenities, aimed at drawing customers from the Asia-Pacific region and the rest of the world.
An event space, suitable for celebrating all kinds of special occasions, will also be among the most important facilities at the Jeju Island-located integrated resort.
