Officials for Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville, South Mississippi said earlier this week that the venue is almost ready for the official December 9 opening. And representatives for the state’s gambling industry have long been waiting for the opening of the new facility as it is expected to attract the attention of new gambling customers to the southern part of Mississippi.
Scarlet Pearl Casino is D’Iberville’s first gambling venue and South Mississippi’s twelfth. Here it is also important to note that the casino is the first one to be built after the state Gaming Commission demanded that each new facility of this kind meet certain quality standards and introduce something new to the regional market. Scarlet Pearl Casino’s innovative feature will be a 36-hole miniature golf course with an erupting volcano as its centerpiece.
Although the existing casinos in South Mississippi are going to have a new competitor, and quite a spectacular one, it seems that they are rather keen on the opening of the new venue. Representatives for the region’s gambling facilities have told media that Scarlet Pearl Casino will likely draw the attention of new patrons to South Mississippi. And those customers will be able to see the progress that existing casinos have made since Hurricane Katrina hit the region.
Gambling officials have revealed that casino revenue has managed to surpass its pre-hurricane levels. However, fewer people come to play at local casinos than a decade ago. This is why casino representatives believe that the launch of Scarlet Pearl Casino will have a positive effect on the region and its gambling industry.
Over the past decade, the existing gambling venues have presented customers with exciting new additions, such as LED light shows and other innovative features. Furthermore, casinos have expanded their operations, adding new hotel towers and different other amenities. Now more than ever, South Mississippi’s gambling venues are keen on showing off their new additions and Scarlet Pearl Casino is believed to be able to help them by alluring tourists to the region.
D’Iberville’s first hotel and casino complex is to feature a 167,000-square-foot gaming floor with 40 table games and 1,350 slot machines, a 4-star hotel, and numerous food and beverage, and entertainment options. The $350-million venue will employ permanently more than 1,200 people.
Commenting on the upcoming opening, Larry Gregory, Executive Director of the state Gaming and Hospitality Association, said that the new casino would send an important message that the region is strong and has a lot to show to gambling customers.
