This week, German poker pro Martin Finger climbed in both the GPI and the GPI Player of the Year rankings. He now ranks 8th in the general GPI leaderboard with 3,685.07 points and 13th in the GPI Player of the Year one with a total of 3,708.96 points collected over the past eleven months.
It could be said that the German has had a year to remember, winning more than $2 million in 16 different live tournaments, topping the field of an EPT High Roller event and making final table appearances at some of the world’s most prestigious poker events.
Indisputably, Finger’s first place in the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €25,500 High Roller 8-Max was his best achievement in 2015. The player emerged victorious over a field of 152 of the world’s best high rollers to win the first-place prize of €865,900.
Earlier this year, the German finished 3rd in the EPT Season 11 Grand Final €50,000 Super High Roller 8-Handed for a payout of €437,000. An 8th place in the EPT Season 11 Malta €25,500 High Roller secured him with a payout of €79,800.
In January, Finger had the chance to win the 2015 PCA LAPT Bahamas Main Event. However, he could not make it against his heads-up opponent Joshua Kay and had to content with the runner-up finish and the amount of $223,900.
Overall, the German poker professional has collected $6,535,683 in 59 different events since the beginning of his career. Interestingly enough, he received his largest live cash of £821,000 ($1,331,171) for winning an EPT High Roller event. That happened in 2013, when the player bested the field of the EPT Season 5 London £50,000 Super High Roller.
And it was in 2013 again when the player won his first WSOP gold bracelet. He triumphed in the 44th Annual WSOP $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed for the amount of $506,764 and the precious gold piece. Finger can also boast of an EPT Main Event title. That one he won in 2011. The player emerged victorious in the EPT Season 8 Prague €5,300 Main Event. He received the amount of €720,000 for his triumph. His poker achievements also include first places and final table appearances in a number of different poker tournaments over the past several years.
