Poker pro Cody Pack from Cartersville, Georgia has just won his fourth WSOP Circuit gold ring for topping the field of the opening 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee event. The player also collected the amount of $117,991 for his victory.
The $365 No-Limit Hold’em with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 kicked off on November 26, featured four starting flights, and was completed late last night. The event attracted a massive field of 2,712 entries who generated an overall prize pool of $813,600. The top 279 finishers received a portion of the money, with lowest payouts worth $740.
As mentioned above, this has been Pack’s fourth WSOP Circuit victory. It is interesting to note that the player has won all his four gold rings over the span of less than one calendar year. His first triumph at the tables of the WSOP Circuit was right there at Harrah’s Cherokee. In December 2014, he won a $365 No-Limit Hold’em for $21,504.
Gold piece number two came in September 2015, when Pack won another $365 No-Limit Hold’em event for $9,630 at Palm Beach Kennel Club. In October, the player topped the field of a $365 No-Limit Hold’em at Horseshoe Southern Indiana for a payout of $13,776 and his third gold ring.
The official nine-handed final table of the Harrah’s Cherokee opening event was reached on Sunday with Kevin Henderson as the chip leader. The player had a total of 8,500,000. Pack was fourth in chips at the beginning of nine-handed action with 2,850,000.
Eventually, the player managed to overcome the tough competition and to make it to the heads-up duel against Blake Whittington from Jacksonville, Florida. Two-handed play started with Whittington holding almost two times more chips than his opponent. And it took a little less than an hour for the champion to be determined. On what turned out to be the last hand in play, Whittington could not make it against his opponent’s [10c][4c] and had to settle for the second-place finish and the amount of $73,436.
Kevin Henderson from Fort Payne, Alabama finished 3rd for $55,911. Andrew Brinkley from Atlanta, Georgia took 4th place for a payout of $43,170.
