Maryland Posts Slight Drop in November Casino Revenue

Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported on Friday the combined gambling revenue generated by the state’s five casinos in November. Overall revenue amounted to $89.7 million, down 0.47% as compared to the figures posted for the same month a year ago.

Hollywood Casino Perryville posted November revenue of $6 million, down 1.6% year-on-year. The gambling venue operated 850 slot machines, 12 banking table games, and 10 non-banking ones last month. Slots generated an average of $196.43 per unit per day. Daily revenue per unit from table games amounted to $2,668.47 for banking ones and $304.79 for non-banking ones.

The most recent addition to the Maryland casino market – the $442-million Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, which opened doors in August 2014, posted monthly revenue of $24.6 million, up 5.2% as compared to the figures for November 2014. The venue featured 2,200 slot machines, 154 banking table games, and 25 non-banking ones. Revenue from slot machines amounted to $200.17 per unit per day. Banking table games generated $2,317.96 per unit per day. Revenue from non-banking table games totaled $867.64 per unit per day.

Recently, it was announced that the casino is to have a new general manager, after Chad Barnhill had said that he was stepping down from his post. Mr. Barnhill is to be replaced by Erin Chamberlin, who has previously worked for Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, known to be the state’s largest casino, reported a 4% drop in revenue last month to $51.7 million. The venue offered 3,994 slot machines, 154 banking table games, and 52 non-banking ones. Revenue per unit per day amounted to $285.09 for slots, $3,340.97 for banking table games, and $1,294.83 for non-banking ones.

Revenue at Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Cumberland increased 1.8% in November to reach $3.6 million. The gambling facility featured 631 slot machines, 16 banking table games, and 2 non-banking ones. Revenue from slots amounted to an average of $160.68 per unit per day. Banking table games generated $1,099.18 per unit per day and non-banking ones generated $193.32.

Casino at Ocean Downs in Berlin posted the biggest increase in revenue among all five casinos in the state. Revenue grew 15.6% to reach $3.9 million. The venue operated 800 slot machines last month and no table games. Gaming revenue from those totaled $160.47 per single unit per day.
