Isaac Haxton Leaves PokerStars Team Pro Online

Lifestyle

Popular poker pro Isaac Haxton announced that he will no longer be a member of PokerStars Team Pro Online. The player said that his contract with the online card room has expired and that he has decided not to renew it. It seems that PokerStars has contacted Haxton with a proposal to continue his contract without reducing his compensation.

The player cited as a reason for his decision the changes that became effective on the poker site as of January 1, 2016. Late last year, PokerStars announced that it would have its old VIP Steps program eliminated and replaced by a new one. One of the most unpopular changes introduced by the card room was that players who earned Supernova and Supernova Elite ranks in 2015 would not be paid their rewards in 2016.

Haxton wrote in a post in a popular poker forum that he considers that “dishonest and unfair” and that he does not want to “endorse a poker site that treats its players this way.” Yet, the player pointed out that he really enjoyed his time as member of PokerStars Team Pro Online and that he holds both many fellow members of the roster and PokerStars employees dear.

Haxton was one of many US-based poker professionals to relocate after the popular site was shuttered in the United States back in 2011. The player moved to Malta in order to be able to continue playing poker online. It would not be an understatement to say that Haxton was one of the most prominent members of PokerStars Team Pro Online.

He joined the roster of elite players in 2012 and has won quite a lot of money on the online felt since then. Haxton specializes in Texas Hold’em and No-Limit Hold’em in particular. Apart from his success online, the American poker pro has demonstrated excellent performance in live tournaments over the years, too.

Haxton made his debut on the live circuit in 2007, when he finished 2nd in the PCA $10,000 WPT Championship Event for a payout of $861,789. Overall, the player has collected almost $10.5 million from various live events.

Just a few days ago, it became clear that he would be one of the players to sit at the tables of the inaugural WPT National Philippines $200,000 Triton Super High Roller, the highest buy-in event in the WPT history. The tournament is to kick off on January 3 and will run through January 4. It will feature other popular poker professionals like Phil Ivey, John Juanda, and Dan Colman as well as well-to-do poker enthusiasts from the Asia-Pacific region.
