Byron Kaverman Finishes 2015 as GPI Player of the Year

Following a quite successful and profitable year on the live circuit, American poker pro Byron Kaverman ended 2015 as the GPI Player of the Year. The player collected a total of 4,736.90 points and ranked first in the prestigious leaderboard for 8 consecutive weeks.

Generally speaking, the GPI Player of the Year aggregates a given player’s thirteen best live scores during the calendar year ending December 31. And here are Kaverman’s best results in 2015.

In June, the player collected 550.56 points for winning the 2015 WSOP $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed Championship. Kaverman also collected the amount of $657,351 for his victory. In October, the poker pro topped the field of the EPT Season 12 Malta €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller for 550.31 points and a payout of €430,800.

In July, he finished 3rd in the Bellagio Cup XI $10,400 No-Limit Hold’em. His third-place finish secured him with 462.02 points and a total of $409,219 of the entire prize pool. In March, the player emerged victorious in the Aria High Roller VI, a $25,000 buy-in event, and earned 422.71 points and a first-place prize of $282,948.

In January, he finished 2nd in the Aria High Roller III to collect 364.95 points and the amount of $282,435. In March, Kaverman appeared at the tables of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars $7,500 WPT Main Event. He finished 15th in the tournament and scooped 348.62 points and $38,450 in prize money.

In October, he took 5th place in the EPT Season 12 Malta €25,700 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed and received 323.01 points and €141,415 for his efforts. A ninth-place finish in the WSOP $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em secured him with 301.22 points and $37,030 of the prize pool.

Kaverman was also among the notables to take part in the WSOP $111,111 High Roller for ONE DROP. He took 12th place in the event to earn 290.13 points and collect $332,593 of the entire prize pool.

During the EPT Season 12 Barcelona poker festival in August, the player took part in the €50,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller 8-Max. He finished 9th in the tournament and received 287.44 points and a payout of €123,600.

In October, the poker pro took 3rd place in Aria High Roller XVI for 279.95 points and $175,641. In January, he finished 4th in Aria High Roller II for 278.98 points and $80,360. And in October again, he earned 277.01 points and €32,495 for finishing 9th in the EPT Season 12 Malta €10,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed.

Given his excellent performance in various live tournaments at a number of popular poker destinations, Kaverman collected an overall of $3.5 million in 2015. He also captured his first-ever gold bracelet and topped the fields of some of the world’s most prestigious events.
