Welcome-to-New-JerseyNew Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) announced this October’s gaming revenue only mere hours ago. Generally speaking, the overall descending trend was continued this month. Almost $2 million were generated from poker, marking a 2-percent drop as compared to September. A decrease was posted in online casino turnover, as well. This month, $7.5 million were gained out of online platforms. By contrast, $8.16 million were acquired in September. In other words, the total monthly revenue added up to $9.5 million in October, posting a 7.4-percent drop. The numbers of registered online players reached 479,000 or in other words, they increased almost by 5 percent.

After online operator Ultimate Gaming came to the decision to end its partnership with Trump Taj Mahal, due to the fact that the latter is expected to be shuttered on December 12, the number of casinos that are allowed to offer online casino games within the territory of New Jersey was reduced by one. Even though Ultimate Gaming provided its services by October 5, the NJDGE resolved not to include its small contribution to the overall revenue for the month into their report.

Borgata and its partner Bwin.party are still leaders in the online segment. Their October revenue amounted to $3.24 million, of which, $2.18 million were generated from casino games and $1.05 million were generated from poker. By comparison, Borgata/Bwin.party’s September turnover added up to about $3.44 million. What is more, it appears that poker revenue dropped by 9.4 percent as compared to September and casino games revenue decreased by 4.8%. As for Caesars Interactive Entertainment, it gained the total amount of $2.46 million, which was $200,000 less than the previous month. Of those, $1.55 million were attained from casino-related activities and $911,000 were attained from poker.

The last three operators in the revenue chart – Tropicana/Gamesys, Golden Nugget, and Plaza/Betfair, offer only casino games. The Tropicana/Gamesys collaboration gained a total of $1.925m, which was $120,000 less than it did in September. The Golden Nugget generated $1 million, marking a 8-percent drop as compared to the previous month. As for Trump/Betfair, they generated $856,000, actually posting a small increase. A few weeks ago, it was announced that Betfair was to move its online platform to a Caesars Entertainment venue, due to the closure of the Plaza casino.

New Jersey has been reported to have earned a total of $103.4 million from its online platforms since the beginning of the year up until now. Of those, $25.1 million have been acquired via poker and $78.5 million were generated from casino games. If the numbers continue to fall in the months to follow, Governor Chris Christie will certainly meet severe criticism, regarding his bright prognoses for the future of gambling in the Garden State and his promises for more reasonable taxes.
