The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement posted on Wednesday information about the financial performance of Atlantic City’s eight casinos in December and in 2015 as a whole. Revenue from land-based operations amounted to $177.6 million, down 1.2% year-on-year. Internet gaming operations generated a total of $14 million, up 30.8% from the $10.7 million reported for December 2014. Overall revenue increased 0.6% year-on-year to reach $191.7 million.
Full-year revenue amounted to $2.6 billion, down 6.5% from the $2.7 billion reported for 2014. Casino analysts pointed out that the once-popular gambling hub has lost more than a half of its casino revenue over the past nine years. In 2006, Atlantic City’s best year in terms of revenue generated by local casinos, income from those amounted to $5.2 billion.
Back in 2014, the city saw four of its casinos close doors. Excluding revenue from discontinued operators, overall gambling income increased 3.1%. Land-based casino operations generated a total of $2.4 billion last year compared to $2.6 billion reported for 2014. Revenue from online gambling services increased 21.2% to reach $148.9 million.
Bally’s Atlantic City posted December revenue of $15.4 million, down 10.4%. Full-year revenue at the casino dropped 6.4% to $210.6 million in 2015. The amount of $224.9 million was posted for the twelve-months ended December 31, 2014.
The Borgata generated overall revenue of $59 million in December, up 10.3% year-on-year. Of those, casino operations contributed $55.1 million and Internet services contributed $3.9 million to the overall figure. Full-year revenue at the gambling venue totaled $741.8 million, representing an increase of 7.9% as compared to the figure reported for 2014.
Last month, Caesars posted revenue of $22.4 million, down 18.9% year-on-year. Caesars Interactive New Jersey, known to be the Internet gambling arm of the major operator, generated a total of $3.1 million, up 17.8% as compared to the figure reported for the same month of 2014. Caesars’ full-year revenue dropped 6.1% to $310.3 million. Caesars Interactive New Jersey generated a total of $31.6 million in 2015, up 0.5% year-on-year.
Golden Nugget posted December revenue of $17 million last month, up 6.1% year-on-year. Casino revenue totaled $14 million and Internet operations generated $2.9 million. Full-year revenue at the casino amounted to $231.2 million, up 24.6% year-on-year.
Last month, Harrah’s generated a total of $26.8 million, representing a 10.2% decrease compared to the $29.8 million posted for the same month of 2014. Revenue at the gambling venue increased 2.5% last year to reach $374.3 million.
Resorts posted December revenue of $12.3 million, up 16.1% year-on-year. Resorts Digital generated $1.3 million last month. The casino’s online gambling arm commenced operations in February 2015. Full-year revenue at the casino grew 16.4% to reach $162.2 million. Resorts Digital generated $6.8 million last year.
Tropicana reported revenue of $23.8 million in December, up 6% year-on-year. Land-based casino options contributed $21 million to the overall figure. Revenue from Internet gambling totaled $2.8 million. In 2015, revenue at the casino increased 5.3% year-on-year to $312.9 million.
Revenue at Trump Taj Mahal amounted to $10.7 million last month, down 0.8% as compared to the figure posted for December 2014. Full-year revenue at the gambling venue dropped 16.5% year-on-year to $180.3 million.
