Greg Himmelbrand Wins 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant $580 No-Limit Hold’em (One-Day)

The tenth ring event on the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant has just ended with Greg Himmelbrand from Queens, New York emerging victorious. The player collected his second-ever gold ring and the first-place prize of $36,899.

The one-day $580 No-Limit Hold’em attracted as many as 314 entries who created a prize pool of $157,000. The top 33 finishers received a payout, with the lowest ones worth $937. It took about 10 hours of play for the nine-handed final table to be set. It started with Joseph Jennerjahn holding the greater part of the chips in play. He had a total of 980,000. Himmelbrand was the short stack at the beginning of the final table.

Eventually, Himmelbrand not only made it to the heads-up match against Micheal Milan from Elkhorn, Nebraska, but also won the tournament for $36,899 in prize money and his career second gold ring. The player captured his first WSOP Circuit gold piece in 2015, when he topped the field of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Baltimore $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-entry for $82,864.

Including last night’s victory, Himmelbrand’s earnings from Circuit events now amount to more than $200,000. The player has cashed in 7 WSOP Circuit events so far.

As for Milan, he took home the amount of $22,812 for finishing runner-up in last night’s Choctaw Durant event. Kevin Elia from Baltimore, Maryland took 3rd place for a payout of $16,568. Joseph Jennerjahn from Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico took home $12,238 for finishing 4th.

David Aker from Kennesaw, Georgia took 5th place to collect $9,188. Michael Waterstradt from Arlington, Texas received $7,007 for his 6th place in the event. Jordan Todd from Dallas, Texas finished 7th to scoop $5,427 of the prize pool. Craig Bergeron from Farmington, Michigan collected $4,267 for finishing 8th. Rounding out the final table, Michael Kusgen from Sedalia, Missouri took 9th place for a payout of $3,405.

With Event #10 being completed, there are two more gold ring tournaments on the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant stop. The $1,675 Main Event is slated to kick off on January 15 and Ring Event #12 is to begin on January 17. And Casino de Marrakech in Morocco will be the next venue to welcome the 2015/2016 WSOP Circuit.
