Last year, the event took place towards the end of the annual WSOP. In 2016, it will kick off right at the beginning of the world’s largest and most prestigious poker festival. Organizers have recently revealed more details on this year’s edition of the Super High Roller Bowl. For instance, it will once again air on Poker Central, the first and only 24/7 poker TV network, just as it did last year.
This year’s tournament will feature a cap of 49 players, or a total of 7 seven-handed tables. It is also important to note that of all 49 seats, 14 will be reserved for non-professional high roller players. All entries will have to pay a buy-in fee of $300,000. In comparison, all players who entered the prestigious high roller event had to pay $500,000 in order to be admitted to ARIA’s poker room. And there were 43 players who took part in the 2015 Super High Roller Bowl.
This year, the tournament is expected to feature a prize pool of up to $15 million in case it reaches its maximum of 49 entries. Last year, all Super High Roller Bowl participants created a prize pool of $21.5 million.
It was Las Vegas-based poker pro Brian Rast who topped the field of the 2015 Super High Roller Bowl. The player, who has previously won two WSOP gold bracelets, collected a first-place prize of $7.5 million and a ring, manufactured exclusively for the winner of the first-ever edition of the prestigious tournament. The winner of the second Super High Roller Bowl will receive $5 million in prize money in case there are 49 entries and the prize pool reaches the initially projected amount of $15 million.
Organizers have already started accepting deposits from players. In order to lock-in a seat, everyone interested to enter the event needs to pay a non-refundable deposit of $30,000. Similarly to last year, some of the world’s most popular poker players, particularly ones specializing in high roller tournaments, are expected to be seen at ARIA’s poker tables at the end of May.
