Suffolk Construction to Complete Everett Casino Project

News

It was announced that Suffolk Construction Co. is to complete the $1 billion casino construction project in Everett. This has been the largest private construction contract ever awarded in the state of Massachusetts and it is expected to create plenty of job opportunities in the area.

Back in 2014, Wynn Resorts Ltd. was given the green light to begin construction of a luxurious casino resort on the territory of the Bay state. According to company’s spokesperson, Wynn has carefully considered all alternatives and finally settled down around the decision of arranging Suffolk for the project. What made the company choose Suffolk over the other applicants was the fact that they are expected to meet the deadline and take every construction detail into consideration.

The property is expected to have its grand opening towards the end of 2018.

In a special statement on the matter, Robert DeSalvio, a Wynn’s executive, shared that establishing a top-notch casino resort definitely requires precision and Suffolk Construction was the company said to deliver the expected quality within the given deadlines.

As far as Suffolk is concerned, it is one of the most prominent construction companies within the state borders. However, the Everett casino project has been the largest contract the company has inked so far.

John F. Fish, the chief executive of Suffolk, commented on the casino establishment and said that this was an excellent opportunity for the company to improve its portfolio.

Suffolk has already successfully completed a number of impressive construction projects including but not restricted to Liberty Hotel, Boston Opera House, Four Seasons Hotel Boston, etc. As far as their casino construction experience is concerned, Suffolk was in charge of the establishment of casinos based in Florida and California.

Fish also revealed that the company intended to use its relationships with union contractors and small businesses in the area in order to ensure the successful completion of the Everett project. The construction is expected to commence in early spring.

Back in August 2015, Wynn Resorts has received the long-awaited environmental permit after providing persuasive arguments that it will effectively address the traffic and environmental issues in the area.

The entire project was estimated at $1.7 billion and according to the revealed information, the resort is to feature a luxurious hotel, spa centre, ballroom, a variety of dining and retail options and last but not least, spacious gambling halls.

Preliminary statistics show that the casino construction and the following grand opening will create approximately 4,000 construction and 4,000 permanent jobs.

For the time being, it seems Wynn Resorts managed to resolve the traffic and environmental concerns of Everett residents and city officials but the question about the revenues the casino is to generate will be brought back on the agenda.
