The Senet Group was founded in September 2014 by UK’s leading gambling operators – Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, and William Hill. The Group was established as the companies’ response to public concerns raised on the gambling options offered within the UK’s borders, and more particularly, the ones raised on advertising of gambling products.
Upon foundation, the Group’s members have committed to certain important responsibilities. For instance, they have to monitor and enforce compliance with the requirements adopted by them regarding advertising as well as with other related measures that aim at protecting the vulnerable part of the population from falling victim to gambling addictions.
The Senet Group is a fully independent body, chaired by Independent Standards Commissioner Wanda Goldwag. Commenting on Sky Betting & Gaming joining the Group, Ms. Goldwag said that they are happy to welcome such a major online gambling operator. According to her, the company becoming member of the body shows that it is ready to comply with and promote the social responsibility standards adopted by all other members.
Ms. Goldwag further commented that remote gambling is at present the fastest growing sector within the industry and this is why it is extremely important for the Group to have a major online gambling operator among its members. Thus, information about their code of conduct would be spread across the sector more effectively.
Sky Betting & Gaming CEO Richard Flint said in a statement that the establishment of the Senet Group has resulted in social responsibility within the industry upping its positions over the past year. He further commented that more improvements are to be introduced and that they are looking forward to being part of the shaping of the group’s work on issues related to online gambling.
As a new member of the Group, Sky Betting & Gaming will have a “grace period” of three months, during which it will have to demonstrate full compliance with the Senet Enforceable Commitments.
The Senet Group also said today that following the success of the ‘When The Fun Stops, Stop’ tagline campaign from last year, it will launch new related campaigns in the months to come in a bid to inform gambling customers about the symptoms of problem behavior and how to control their gambling habits.
