Spanish supplier of casino games for the land-based gambling industry R. Franco Group confirmed today that it has acquired a controlling stake in online gambling platform provider Mediatech Solutions. The agreement sees two leading gaming companies joining forces in a bid to create a “new omni-channel giant.”
Under the terms of the deal, R. Franco will integrate its partner’s IRIS gaming platform and its portfolio of 1,500 titles.
Although the land-based gaming supplier now owns a majority stake in the new business entity, it said that Mediatech Solution’s management team will remain in place and the company’s headquarters will still be based in Madrid. The announcement comes a year and a half after R. Franco launched its online gaming division. Following the acquisition of a majority stake in Mediatech Solutuions, the company, which was established back in 1965, now expects to turn into a major player on the world gambling stage.
This will not be the first time when the two gambling suppliers will be working together. Previously, Mediatech Solutions had provided R. Franco with its online gambling platform, which had featured products created by Evolution Gaming, Microgaming, NetEnt, and other popular developers.
Following the acquisition, Mediatech Solutions will receive a substantial investment from its partner to boost its international operations, which will soon include offices in Serbia and Malaysia. In addition, the partnership will provide the online gambling supplier with the chance to expand its Candy line of land-based gaming titles.
Commenting on the latest news, Pedro Melendo, CEO of R. Franco, said that their new acquisition will provide them with the opportunity to take advantage of a leading online platform and to additionally expand their digital footprint. Mr. Melendo added that Spain is to introduce further regulatory changes to the gambling market in the years to come and they will continue striving to remain market leaders.
Mediatech Solutions founder and CEO Jessica Ordovas said that the R. Franco Group is currently among the most highly respected gaming suppliers and that they are happy with the chance to work with the company. She added that their joint team has already demonstrated its ability to be an innovator in the online gambling industry and that they are all now well-positioned to expand their omni-channel product offering not only in Spain, but also in the rest of Europe, as well as in Latin America and Asia.
