Robert Kuhn Wins 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Atlantic City $1,675 Main Event

Robert Kuhn, a player from Barnesville, Ohio with two previous WSOP Circuit cash results, topped last night the field of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Atlantic City $1,675 Main Event to scoop the first-place prize of $122,098 and his career first gold piece.

The four-day Main Event began on March 23 with two starting flights, followed by two more days of play. Overall, the tournament attracted a field of 370 entries who generated a prize pool of $555,000. The top 45 finishers collected a payout, with the lowest one totaling $2,509.

The event’s final day started with nine players coming back to play the official nine-handed final table and to determine the Main Event champion. Each of the nine finalists was guaranteed a min-cash of $11,544. Nine-handed action started with Kuhn himself holding a considerable chip lead over the rest of his opponents. The player had a stack of 2,326,000 in chips. A notable player to appear at the Main Event’s final table was Ari Engel, who won his eighth gold ring at Harrah’s only a few days ago. Engel was second in chips at the beginning of the tournament’s final day.

It took 105 hands of play before the names of the two heads-up opponents became clear. Kuhn was to face local player Nenad Cvetkovic. Two-handed match began with Kuhn holding a massive chip lead over his opponent. It took several minutes and two hands of play for the player to eliminate Cvetkovic.

Hand #107 was the final one in play. Kuhn min-raised to 80,000 from the button and his opponent called. The board ran out [8s][7c][6d] on the flop. Both players checked. The turn came [2c] and Cvetkovic bet 90,000. Kuhn called. The [Qs] appeared on the river to see Cvetkovic check. Kuhn bet 100,000 and his opponent moved all in for his remaining 905,000. Kuhn took about a minute and then called.

Cvetkovic turned over [Ks][5c] and Kuhn showed [8c][3c], thus winning the pot and the tournament. As for his opponent, he collected a consolation prize of $75,452.

Dorian Rios from Venezuela finished 3rd for a payout of $55,134. Ari Engel from Las Vegas, Nevada took 4th place for $40,937. David Cossion from Las Vegas, Nevada received $30,869 for taking 5th place in the tournament.

Joseph Liberta from Berlin, New Jersey collected $23,626 for his 6th place. Joseph Cappello from New Rochelle, New York, took 7th place for $18,348. Jared Jaffee from Brooklyn, New York scooped a payout of $14,452 for finishing 8th. Rounding out the official final table, Oliver Entine from New York City took home $11,544.
