It has been announced recently that a prominent investor is about to build a luxurious casino resort in Connecticut. Managers promised to ensure lots of benefits to the state annual revenue and provide plenty of job opportunities as well.
Representatives of Mohegan Sun expressed interest in taking up such a giant project, which supposed to be finished in the next few years.
However, the idea for establishment of another casino was not supported by some key figures, responsible for the well-being of the state. Dannel P. Malloy, the Governor of Connecticut, officially announced that he was not going to actively participate in the legislation procedure, concerning the expansion of the gambling sector on the territory of the state.
Malloy also added that he could not imagine the project to become a reality and it is predominantly a legislative matter. The Governor discussed the details with journalists on Monday, during an event, held at Hartford Marriott Downtown.
He also said that he does not consider the future casino to be of critical importance for the prosperity of Connecticut citizens and he has not noticed a high demand for gaming activities so far. Games, that will eventually be available at the new casino, are also accessible in all the venues in the neighbouring states. For instance, Keno was approved by the authorities a year ago but the approval met the opposition of a great number of politicians and local communities.
Now, when the question about the expansion of the gambling sector is raised again, Mallow commented that he will not be among those who will play a key role in the legislative matters. He said that he will interact with those, involved in the legislation procedure, and help them figure out some issues.
A few days ago, a meeting between a representative of Mohegan Sun and Connecticut’s legislators was held and all advantages and disadvantages of the new casino establishment were discussed. The project is supposed to bring an income of $800 million to the state and to boost the economy as soon as it opens doors for visitors in 2017.
Although Connecticut-based casinos used to be among the most popular gambling destinations of the East Coast, along with New Jersey, things might change soon as Massachusetts is about to have its gambling sector expanded. The gambling industry of Connecticut is also experiencing a growing pressure, caused by the rapid development of the gambling sector in Rhone Island. In other words, urgent measures need to be taken in order to prevent further damages to the economy, caused by the tough competition between the states.
According to an announcement, made by representatives of Mohegan Sun, their top priority is not expanding the gambling industry but coming up with an innovative plan and excellent strategy that would make Connecticut one of the most successful and desirable gambling destinations not only in the United States but all over the world.
