The latest update of the Global Poker Index leaderboard did not show many changes within top 10. For 21 weeks now, Steve O’Dwyer has been topping the ranking with 4,329.51 points. Anthony Zinno is ranking 2nd with 4,202.59 points and German poker wunderkind Fedor Holz is taking 3rd position, his career best, with 4,092.19 points. Yet, with the WSOP now taking place in Las Vegas, quite a lot of movement will most definitely occur in the weeks to come.

After the ranking’s traditional Wednesday update, Canadian player Sam Greenwood climbed to 20th position, the best one he has ever taken over the span of his poker career. Greenwood currently has GPI score of a total of 3,355.52 points.

Most recently, the Canadian finished 7th in the EPT Season 12 Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller for a payout of €301,820 and 259.52 GPI points. Earlier this year, the player won the EPT Season 12 Dublin €2,150 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo 6-Handed for €44,280 and 248.03 points.

During the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship, the player cashed in two events. He first finished 13th in the A$25,000 No-Limit Hold’em Challenge for A$58,560 and 258.76 GPI points. He next took 5th place in the A$100,000 Challenge, scooping A$3321,440 of the prize pool and adding 252.23 points to his GPI score.

Late in 2015, Greenwood finished 2nd in the EPT Season 12 €50,000 Super High Roller. His deep run in the tournament secured him with €583,500 in prize money and 399.44 points.

Over the past 36 months (the GPI ranking is based on players’ results for the last three calendar years), the Canadian poker pro has cashed in a number of other prestigious events adding considerable amounts of money to his bankroll and accumulating points for his GPI score. Last year was particularly successful for the player as he won more than $2 million in various live tournaments.

What is more, he captured his first WSOP gold bracelet for topping the field of the 2015 WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event. Apart from the gold piece, the player also collected the amount of $318,977.

Greenwood now has a total of $3,188,791 in live tournament winnings, collected over the span of the past eight years.
