The Louisiana Gaming Control Board posted information about the financial performance of the state’s gambling venues in June. Overall revenue from gaming operations amounted to 248.1 million last month. Revenue from the state’s 15 riverboats, one land-based casino, and four racinos totaled $202.7 million, down 2.6% as compared to the $208.2 million posted for June 2015.

In addition, there were 13,160 video poker machines to be operating across Louisiana in June. Those generated a total of $45.4 million last month, down 2.9% from the previous year. In comparison, there were 14,171 such devices across the state during the same month of 2015. Video poker machines are mainly located at truck stops, restaurants and bars, and off-track betting parlors across Louisiana.

The state has only one land-based casino to be operating within its borders – Harrah’s New Orleans. The gambling venue generated a total of $19.5 million last month, down 16.4% as compared to the $23.3 million posted for May 2016. During June of the previous year, Harrah’s New Orleans generated the amount of $20.7 million or 6.1% more than it did in June 2016.

Revenue from the 15 riverboat casinos amounted to $156.4 million last month, up 1.7% from May 2016 and down 1.6% from June 2015. Generally speaking, the riverboats are located in four designated regions across the state.

Revenue from the Shreveport/Bossier region amounted to $50.7 million last month, down 6.7% from May 2016 and 5.8% from June 2015. There are six such gambling venues in that particular area.

The three riverboat casinos in Lake Charles generated monthly revenue of $60.8 million in June, reflecting a 12.7% increase from the previous month and a 0.4% one from the same month of 2015.

There are three riverboats in New Orleans. Those posted June revenue of $21.6 million, down 3.9% month-over-month and 0.8% year-on-year.

The three riverboat gambling venues in Baton Rouge generated a total of $23.3 million last month. Revenue from those rose 1% from May 2016 and 2.3% from June 2015.

Last month, Louisiana’s four racinos generated revenue of $26.9 million, down 11.2% from May and 6% from the same month of the previous year. Revenue at the four gambling venues amounted to $28.6 million in June 2015.
