Steven_WolanskyAmerican poker player Steve Wolansky finished first at the 2014 Borgata Fall Poker Open $1 Million Guaranteed Championship, held last week in Atlantic City. Apart from the prestigious title, he acquired the sum of $330,887 of the total prize pool.

This was not Wolansky’s first big victory for the year. He won a gold bracelet and the amount of $89,483 at the 2014 World Series of Poker event that took place in Las Vegas back in June.

A total of 548 poker players had paid the $2,500 buy-in fee, so as to take part in the Borgata event and only ten were seated at the final table on the fourth and final day of the championship.

It was Larry Abrams who held the majority of chips at the beginning, but Paul Volpe was close behind him. Not long after the play began, Mark Sykes was eliminated by Daniel Buzgon. Sykes was quickly followed by Jack Duong and Daniel Chan. Then, it was Buzgon’s time to leave the table. He faced Larry Abrams, but his hand could not stand a chance against his opponent’s. Buzgon took home $48,505 for his seventh position.

Josh Spiegelman, Brian Altman, and Paul Volpe were also eliminated and thus, the final three became clear. And it was no other but Abrams to be sent to third place. The player from Mahwah, New Jersey, took $119,601 of the total prize pool.

Thus, Wolansky had to face Taylor von Kriegenbergh in a heads-up play. It was Wolansky himself who held the majority of chips. His opponent managed to catch up a little. Yet, he just could not overcome him. Eventually, von Kriegenbergh was the one at risk when the all-in call came.

The final hand occurred in Level 32. Von Kriegenbergh called all in with [Ac][4c]

Taylor von Kriegenbergh was awarded $186,046 for his runner-up position. As for Wolansky, he became the proud owner of a special trophy and received the total amount of $330,887 from the prize pool.

2014 was Wolansky’s most prolific year. As previously mentioned, apart from his major victory at the 2014 Borgata Fall Championship, the poker pro won $89,483 for his first place at the 2014 World Series of Poker Las Vegas event. Up to this moment, his winnings amount to $470,000 and the year is not even over yet.

By comparison, the player earned a little bit less than $300,000 from tournaments back in 2013.
