The European Poker Tour is finally back after more than a three-month hiatus. As usual, Europe’s most prestigious poker tour kicked off its new season in Barcelona. The beautiful Spanish city is the only one to have been present on the schedule of EPT’s all thirteen seasons and has become one of the most highly preferred poker destinations around the continent.

Once again, Casino Barcelona is playing host to the start of EPT’s new season and to an Estrellas Poker Tour stop at the same time.

The €10,300 Single Re-Entry High Roller is one of the most exciting tournaments on the EPT Season 13 Barcelona schedule. The event kicked off yesterday, August 17, and it will take three days of play for a winner to be crowned.

During Day 1, there were 186 players to enter the tournament. Of them, 37 used their only re-entry option. This brought the Day 1 field to a total of 223 entries. Players who got eliminated on Wednesday will be able to re-enter the tournament today when play resumes.

Registration for the High Roller event will be closed on Day 2, which means that the overall prize pool and the places paid will be announced later today.

Eight-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Erik Seidel was among the players to bust on Day 1. Last spring, Seidel topped the field of the EPT Season 11 Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller for a major payout of over €2 million. Poker pros Chance Kornuth and Max Silver were also among those who could not make it through Day 1 of the €10,300 Single Re-Entry High Roller.

The day was completed with Canadian Patrick Serda as the chip leader. The player bagged and tagged 355,000 in chips, being the only one to have passed the 300,000 mark. Serda is relatively new to Europe’s biggest poker festival. However, the €10,300 Single Re-Entry High Roller attracted some of the world’s most popular high roller players, just as EPT high roller tournaments usually do. EPT regulars Steve O’Dwyer, Mustapha Kanit, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Adrian Mateos, and Ivan Luca were among those to survive Day 1. Martin Jacobson, who topped the field of the WSOP Main Event back in 2014, and PokerStars Team Pro Liv Boeree will also be among those to return for Day 2 of the exciting tournament.
