Day 2 of the EPT Season 13 Barcelona €10,300 Single Re-Entry High Roller was packed with action. Some of poker’s big names were seen enter and re-enter the event, and leave it with or without a payout. There were 125 players at the start of the tournament’s second day and by the end of the scheduled ten one-hour levels, there were only 14 to have remained at the tables of Casino Barcelona.
Romanian poker pro Alexandru Papazian will lead the remaining survivors today. They will have two important tasks – to set the official eight-handed final table and to play down to a champion. Play is slated to resume at 12:30 pm local time.
Papazian has already experienced the thrill of winning an EPT high roller event. Just a few months ago, the player bested the field of the EPT Season 12 Grand Final €25,750 High Roller to collect his career best payout of €1,197,000. As already mentioned, the Romanian is now leading the pack to the final day of this season’s first high roller tournament. Last night, the player bagged a stack of 2,074,000 in chips. He’s actually the only one to have passed the 2-million mark among those still in contention.
The €10,300 High Roller’s field attracted as many as 240 entries. Of those, 195 were unique ones. There were 45 players among them that took advantage of the single re-entry option. This brought the overall prize pool to €2,328,000. The top 55 finishers are to get a share of the money. The bubble burst yesterday with Germany’s Manig Loeser being the first player to receive a minimum payout of €11,410.
Each of the 14 hopefuls that will return today is guaranteed at least €30,260 of the prize pool. And each of the eight final table players will receive no less than €52,270. Apart from the tournament trophy, the champion will also collect the amount of €413,000.
EPT regulars like Davidi Kitai, Liv Boeree, Anthony Zinno, and Dzmitry Urbanovich could not make it to the tournament’s final stage. However, they were all eliminated after the bubble burst. Day 3 of the high roller event will see popular poker pros Byron Kaverman, Nick Petrangelo, Kitty Kuo, and Dario Sammartino return to the Barcelona Casino poker table to contend for the first-place prize and the honor of becoming the first EPT Season 13 high roller champion.
