Playtech to Supply Sports Betting and Gaming Platform to Fortuna Entertainment Group

Sports betting operator Fortuna Entertainment Group N.V. announced that it has penned an agreement with Isle of Man-based supplier of online gambling content Playtech. Under their deal, the provider will supply a multi-channel sports betting and gaming platform to its latest client.

Fortuna Entertainment is one of the leading sports betting operators across Central and Eastern Europe. The group includes Czech Fortuna, Polish Fortuna, and Slovak Fortuna, with each of them being among the market leaders in their respective markets. Fortuna Entertainment currently manages 1,500 betting shops across Central European jurisdictions and annually generates revenue of about €300 million.

The Playtech partnership will provide the gambling operator with tools to implement customized multi-channel product with sportsbook and gaming options, seamless wallet technology, and CRM.

Commenting on the recently signed deal, Fortuna Entertainment CEO Per Widerström said that it is their main goal to establish the company as a leader in the provision of multi-channel product offering across the Central and Eastern European region. According to the executive, Playtech’s platform, customized for Fortuna’s own needs, will help the company deliver on its strategy and further extend its territorial reach when the time for this comes.

Playtech CEO Mor Weizer commented that following the successful launch of Fortuna in Romania, they are happy to partner with the gambling operator and to supply its Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia operations with their platform.

Apart from revealing its partnership agreement with Playtech, Fortuna Entertainment also announced its financial results for the first half of the year. Overall gross win for the period amounted to €80.5 million, up 19.9% year-on-year. Оnline sports betting gross win increased 30.9% year-on-year to €50.2 million.

EBITDA rose 7.7% during the period in review to reach €9.7 million. The gambling company generated net profit of €5.1 million during this year’s first half, up 12.1% as compared to the figure reported for the same period of the previous year.

Of his company’s financial performance, Mr. Widerström said that it was mainly driven by its online sports betting offering, particularly its mobile products. In addition, the growth reported was also attributed partly to operator-favorable results during the UEFA Euro 2016.
