Canada-listed developer and supplier of online gaming and sports betting solutions NYX Gaming Group will go live in the newly regulated Romanian iGaming market as part of its strategy for continued expansion of its global presence across regulated jurisdictions.
Under an agreement the company had previously signed with Canadian gambling operator Amaya Inc., NYX Gaming’s Open Gaming System will deliver gaming titles to online poker brand PokerStars’ Romanian website. It was announced last week that the latter has been granted a full gaming license by Romania’s gambling authority – Oficiul National pentru Jocuri de Noroc.
PokerStars is to roll out a suite of NYX Gaming’s best performing online casino games, including titles like James Dean, Foxin’ Wins, and Jackpot Jester 50,000. Suppliers that have opted for the OGS platform will also benefit from the partnership as they, too, will have their games launched with PokerStars.
The online poker room has been the leader in the provision of online poker options for years now. Late in 2014, it added casino content to its existing poker offering, thus further popularizing its brand.
Commenting on the upcoming Romanian launch, NYX Gaming Commercial Director David Johnson said that it comes as another indication of the successful relationship between his company and PokerStars and that it is great to have their in-house developed casino content go live in another regulated jurisdiction.
Director of Casino at Amaya Sam Hobcraft said that they are pleased to roll out NYX Gaming’s casino titles with PokerStars’ Romanian website. The official further noted that the online poker and casino brand being awarded a full license for the provision of gambling options in Romania is another step towards achieving its goal to become the leading gaming operator across Europe.
The announcement about NYX Gaming’s Romanian launch came shortly after the online gaming and sports betting supplier posted its quarterly financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2016.
Following the successful acquisition of leading online sports betting provider OpenBet in May, the company posted a revenue increase of 230% to C$35.2 million during the quarter in review. Gross profit amounted to C$30.8 million, up 238.3% year-on-year. Gross margin stood at 87.3%.
