Events & Reports

Major online gambling operator bet365 registered yet another year of robust growth in key performance indicators, media reports show. The online sports betting and gaming giant is not a publicly traded company, which means that it only provides full-year figures.

During the fiscal year ended March 27, 2016, bet365 generated revenue of £1.65 billion, up 5% from the previous year. Profits increased 10% year-on-year to reach £448 million. Pre-tax profit totaled £459 million during the year in review, up from the £409 million posted for the previous fiscal year.

In-play sports betting offering accounted for 72% of the overall sports betting revenue generated during the period in review. During the 2014-15 fiscal year, in-play betting represented 75% from sports betting revenue. However, it is important to note that the previous twelve-month period included the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Revenue from mobile sports betting was up 36% year-on-year. Although bet365 did not provide information about its mobile casino and turnover from that particular offering, CEO Denise Coates pointed out that the mobile channel was one that has been maturing into a strong platform.

Earlier this month, bet365 became the first operator to launch a brand new native mobile casino app, developed by industry giant Playtech. Available to iOS and Android users, the new product provides players with the chance to download and play casino games within seconds.

Wagers made by bet365 gambling customers amounted to over £36.9 billion in the reviewed period, up by more than £2.3 billion as compared to what was wagered in the 2014-15 fiscal year.

The major gambling operator saw active customer ranks increase 11% year-on-year during the reported twelve months. What is more the number of lifetime sign-ups almost reached 23.1 million by the end of the period in review.

With the company reporting excellent results for yet another year, it also said that the number of its employees has also increased from 3,179 in the 2014-15 fiscal year to a total of 3,404 during the 2015-16 fiscal year.

Owned by Denise Coates, John Coates, and Peter Coates, the Stoke-on-Trent-headquartered gambling company opened its first satellite office in Manchester, with the move resulting in the creation of 70 more jobs.
