
Gaming win from slot machines accounted for the biggest portion of the overall figure posted for September. Revenue from the gaming devices totaled $586,033, up 2.3% year-on-year. There were 145,301 units to be featured at 317 Nevada casinos last month.
Table games and other gambling options generated the total amount of $362,929, reflecting a 5.5% increase from the same month of 2015. Blackjack was the top performer among the table games offered at local gambling venues. Gaming win from that particular game totaled $106,947, up 18.5% year-on-year.
Baccarat also contributed a considerable amount to the overall figure posted, although gaming win from the game decreased 7.8% year-on-year. Baccarat generated a total of $92.9 million last month. Craps, which is usually quite popular with casino players, performed poorly last month, with gaming win dropping 21.8% to $28.2 million.
Nevada is the only US state where sports betting is considered a legal gambling activity. Gaming win from betting on races and other sports events amounted to $44.5 million in September, up significantly from the same month of the previous year.
Gaming win from Las Vegas Strip gambling venues represented the biggest share of the total figure posted for September. Casinos on the Strip, a long-time player-favorite gambling hub, generated a total of $542.5 million last month, up 7.5% year-on-year. Overall gaming win from Clark County amounted to $808.8 million, reflecting a 3.6% increase from September 2015.
Among other factors, the rise in casino win in Las Vegas can be attributed to a serious extent to the increased visitor volume reported by city authorities. Apart from being one of the major gambling hubs, the city has also turned into an important center for convention activity over the years; thus driving thousands of people to the city. September was the Las Vegas’ fourth best month in terms of visitor volume. A total of 3.7 million people traveled to the city last month. More than 600,000 of them went there for convention purposes.
Casinos in Washoe County contributed $74 million to the overall figure generated last month, up 3.6%. Gaming win from South Lake Tahoe gambling venues increased 2.3% to $21.7 million. Elko County casinos generated the amount of $23.5 million, up 4.9% year-on-year. Gaming win at casinos in the Carson Valley Area totaled $8.8 million, reflecting 1.5% rise from the same month of the previous year. Revenue from other casino operations amounted to $12.1 million, down 1% year-on-year.
