
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency has been posting monthly report on the state casinos’ financial performance since 2010 when the first such facility opened doors. Part of the revenue generated by the gambling venue goes to the state Education Trust Fund, minority- and women-managed businesses, host municipalities, and the Maryland horse racing industry.
Hollywood Casino Perryville, known to be the state’s first casino, generated almost $6 million last month, down 4.1% year-on-year. The facility operated 850 slot machines, 12 banked table games, and 8 non-banked table games. Daily revenue per unit totaled $193.71 for slots, $2,108.94 for banked, and $340.19 for non-banked table games.
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore reported revenue of $26.6 million for October, reflecting a 7.9% increase from the same month of 2015. The casino featured 2,202 slot machines, 154 banked table games, and 25 non-banked ones. Revenue from slot machines amounted to $201.74 per unit per day. Average daily revenue per unit totaled $2,554,41 for banked table games and $839.19 for non-banked ones.
Revenue at Maryland Live! Casino, the state’s largest gambling venue, slid 3.2% year-on-year to $53.2 million. The casino operated 3,940 slot machines and 155 banked and 52 non-banked table games last month. The units generated daily revenue of $271.60 per unit for slot machines, $3,744.18 per unit for banked table games, and $1,254.35 per unit for non-banked table games.
Rocky Gap Casino Resort reported monthly revenue of $4.7 million, up 12.1% from the same month of the previous year. The gambling resort featured 634 slot machines and 17 banked table games. Slot machines generated $204.96 per unit per day. Revenue from table games amounted to $1,306.62 per unit per day.
Last but not least, the Casino at Ocean Downs reported revenue of $4.9 million from 800 slot machines. The gambling venue does not feature table games. Average daily revenue per unit totaled $198.91. The casino is part of the Ocean Downs racino in Berlin, Maryland. Apart from slot machines, the complex also features live and simulcast harness racing, as well as dining and entertainment options.
A sixth casino is set to open doors in Maryland on December 8 and will be part of a larger multi-purpose complex. Managed by casino giant MGM Resorts International, MGM National Harbor is set to bring the integrated resort experience to the state for the very first time.
