Most recently, King’s Casino Rozvadov welcomed the WSOP Circuit for a classy, action-packed poker festival. A €1,650 Main Event that was concluded earlier this week culminated the WSOP Circuit poker festivities at the gambling venue.
Ivan Banic, a young poker player from Croatia, claimed the Main Event title to collect a first WSOP Circuit gold ring, a first-place prize of €232,241, and a seat into the season-ending Global Casino Championship to be played next summer.
Banic emerged as the champion after ousting heads-up opponent Yehuda Cohen, better known under his online poker screen name “chiKKita banAAna”. It is also interesting to note that Cohen is a frequent visitor to King’s Casino Rozvadov.
The WSOP Circuit King’s Casino Rozvadov €1,650 Main Event summoned 737 unique players and 114 re-entries to beat the initially announced guaranteed prize pool of €1 million. An overall of €1,212,675 was generated instead in prize money. The top 87 places got paid, with payouts starting from €3,759.
The event’s final day was packed with action and Banic shone bright throughout the whole final table, building a massive chip lead with brave but well-thought-out moves. The player set the final heads-up duel by sending Mihaita Croitoru to the rail in 3rd place. The Romanian scooped a nice payout of €103,441 for his efforts.
Thus, Cohen found himself to be the only player left at the table, aside from Banic. The eventual champion was the chip leader at that important point of the tournament, holding almost nine times more chips than his last opponent. Banic was clearly determined to win and left Cohen no room to move ahead. In fact, the heads-up duel lasted two hands only, during which the Croatian robbed Cohen of the few chips he had in possession. Hitting the rail in second place, the Israeli player took home the amount of €144,551.
As for Banic, he scooped his biggest career cash and his first major live poker title. With his most recent poker triumph added, the player now has $327,460 in live tournament winnings. In February, the young Croatian finished 8th in the EPT Season 12 Dublin €5,300 Main Event, good for €60,750 in prize money.
