Spanish gambling operator Codere Group and La Liga football club Real Madrid C.F. signed a three-year agreement. Under its terms, the gambling company and its Codere Apuestas brand have become the Official Sports Bookmaker of the football club.
The deal was penned during an official presentation that was held at Real Madrid’s host venue Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Wednesday.
The two parties noted that they had seen an excellent partner in each other as they both shared Madrid origins, leadership in their respective areas, and innovative approach towards their goals. It is also important to note that the agreement has come as part of Codere’s strategic plan for future growth.
Collaborations between football clubs and gambling operators have become a common practice over the years as they offer all involved parties numerous opportunities to reach a wider audience, engage fans’ attention, and promote their offering.
Commenting on the agreement, Codere Apuestas Chief Marketing Officer Ángel Fernández said that among other things their work with Real Madrid will help them reinforce their strategy to promote fair gaming and fair play to their gambling customers.
Aside from that, the deal includes brand visibility across Real Madrid’s host venue, special offers and options for Real Madird customers, and many more.
Emilio Butragueño, former Real Madrid Player and Head of the club’s Public Relations, commented on the Codere sponsorship agreement by saying that they are honored and happy to present an alliance with a partner they have so much in common. The official also expressed hopes that that was just the beginning of a long-time collaboration.
Headquartered in Madrid, Codere is one of Spain’s leading gambling operators. Aside from its domestic operations, the company also manages gambling businesses in Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Uruguay.
Codere offers both land-based and online gambling options. Its brick-and-mortar offering includes more than 55,000 gaming machines, 3,500 sports betting terminals, 30,000 bingo and 625 gaming halls, 10,000 bars with gambling options, 150 betting outlets, and 4 race tracks.
In 2008, its Codere Apuestas brand become the first one to receive a license for the provision of sports betting options in Spain. Managed by Codere Apuestas, the country’s first betting shop opened doors in April of that year in Madrid.
