Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas has opened its doors for players who want to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the poker table. The gambling venue, which has been adorning the Strip skyline for seven years now, is currently playing host to the latest edition of its highly popular high roller weekend festivals, the last one for the year.

The first event on its schedule – the $25,000 High Roller 48 – has just been completed. David Peters, a player we have been hearing a lot about recently, chopped the remaining prize pool with fellow poker pro Jake Schindler when the tournament reached its final stage and there were only the two men left at the table.

The latest Aria High Roller attracted 26 entries, most of whom entering it shortly before registration was closed. The event’s field generated the total prize pool of $624,000. There were four payouts up for grabs for the top four performers. Apart from Peters, Aria regulars like Erik Seidel, Cary Katz, Justin Bonomo, Doug Polk, and Dan Smith were also among those to register for the tournament. In fact, Katz and Seidel occupied the 3rd and the 4th place in the end, collecting $93,600 and $49,920, respectively.

Once registration closed and the prize pool was calculated, it was announced that the winner would take home the amount of $312,000 and the runner-up would scoop a $168,480 payout. However, as mentioned above, Peters and Schindler preferred chopping the money and calling it a day to playing the heads-up match.

It was well past midnight local time when the names of the last two players at the table became clear. Peters and Schindler discussed a potential two-way deal and quickly agreed on one. Based on their chip counts at the time, Peters eventually scooped a payout of $293,232 and the tournament trophy and Schindler collected $187,248 in prize money.

Including his most recent result, Peters now boasts more than $14.8 million in live tournament earnings. Only this year, the player has collected over $7.5 million for his performance on the felt. He was a frequent participant in Aria High Roller events over the past twelve months. In November, he topped the field of the $50,000 Aria Super High Roller 13 for $511,970. He also cashed in several more high roller tournaments at the casino.
