The tournament’s third day of play concluded with none other but 2014 WSOP The Big One for ONE DROP winner Dan Colman holding more chips than anyone else at the table. The player called it a day with 9.975 million in chips in his bag, just five big blinds ahead of Tony Sinishtaj. The latter ended Day 3 second in chips with 9.515 million.
Play is set to continue on Wednesday, April 5, when the six players will return at the host venue – Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood – to take up from where they left off and determine who will be that fortunate one to collect a first-place prize of $661,283, including an entry into the upcoming Tournament of Champions.
The $3,500 Championship began on Friday 31. When registration closed, records showed that there were a total of 1,207 candidates for the title. The massive interest in the prestigious tournament generated a prize pool of $3,862,400.
Notables like Byron Kaverman, Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier, Jason Koon, and WPT’s very own Mike Sexton were among the players to take part in the event and to make it to the money. However, odds were against them and they concluded their participation at a certain point before the final table was set.
And here are the players who made it to the final table and their respective chip counts:
Dan Colman – 9,975,000
Tony Sinishtaj – 9,515,000
Darryll Fish – 7,525,000
Simeon Naydenov – 3,115,000
Robert Mizrachi – 3,100,000
Eric Beller – 2,960,000
Although most of the survivors are well-known names in the poker world, Colman is certainly the most popular among them. With a bankroll of almost $28 million, he is one of the world’s most profitable players of all-time.
As mentioned above, Colman emerged victor in the 2014 WSOP The Big One for ONE DROP to collect the hefty payout of $15.3 million. His poker portfolio also includes an EPT Season 10 Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller title, a 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5,300 Main Event victory, a 2014 WPT Alpha8 £60,000 Main Event win, and multiple final table appearances at different major tournaments. Here it is also important to note that Colman built his reputation and poker bankroll within a relatively short period of time.
There is one more major event to be completed at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood as part of the Poker Showdown festival – the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale. The $10,000 buy-in tournament commenced on Sunday, April 2 and saw 332 entries during that first day. There were only 176 players left by the time organizers called it a day. Registration will remain open until the start of Day 2, which is set for today at noon Florida time.
