The deal between the Global Poker Index and Roger Dubuis, a prominent manufacturer of luxurious watches, made it possible for the winners of the annual awards, given by GPI – Player of the Year, to get a custom made watch as an award.
The CEO of Global Poker Index Alex Dreyfus announced that the deal has just been finalized and added that the partnership with Roger Dubuis would undoubtedly be a long-term one that is supposed to bring both companies plenty of benefits.
Dreyfus also commented that poker and watch manufacturing have a lot in common. Both require fluidity, pressure, math, and excellent performance. He continued to share details about the partnership and said that in order to sign the agreement, managers made a lot of efforts towards “sportifying poker” and luckily they have found a reliable partner to support their future plans.
In conclusion, Dreyfus said that finding a trustworthy partner from the watchmaking sector was not too easy. That is why he considered himself lucky for having signed a deal with a company that is familiar with all the benefits such a collaboration can bring.
By supporting the annual Poker Awards Roger Dubuis confirms once again that managers are committed to establishing a long-lasting partnership and completely understand the legitimacy of poker sector.
Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Roger Dubuis, also commented on the deal and said that their top priority has always been providing customers with products, famous for their precision and excellent performance. Goals GPI has set are pretty much the same, which confirms that they share common values.
He also explained that Roger Dubuis expressed no hesitation about supporting GPI in their attempts to make poker a recognizable sport game.
Next American Player of the Year event will be held at the end of February 2015, the European Player of the Year is supposed to take place at the end of March 2015, the date of the next Asian Player of the Year has not been defined yet. Thanks to the deal between both companies, players who win the awards will be given a La Monégasque timepiece. Those who are familiar with the brand know that the watches are not quite affordable and prices reach up to $1,000,000.
Managers said that the model that will be given to notable players will be unique and personalized so it meets their expectations.
Meanwhile, poker game will continue to be promoted and advertised via distribution of photos and various promotional materials.
However, the aim of the partnership between the two companies is not just sponsoring the Awards and promoting Roger Dubuis’ brand. Their goal is to attract new players and to make sure that the poker game is developing with astonishing speed.
