partypoker will sponsor Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) events across Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States under a five-year agreement the online poker room has signed with Poker Club Management.
The move comes as part of partypoker’s bid to extend its presence across that particular region and after the success of the Sochi live poker festival, held this March and organized together with Poker Club Management.
The EAPT Montenegro festival will be the first one to take place under the newly penned sponsorship. The event is set to be held at Merit Royal Casino in the resort town of Budva on June 16-25 and will feature €1 million in guaranteed prize money.
There will be more partypoker EAPT events throughout the season, as announced by the online poker room, those featuring $500,000 in guaranteed prize money each. The poker tour’s season will culminate in a Grand Final with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.
Commenting on the sponsorship deal and their plans for the next five years, Poker Club Management founder Artur Voskanyan said that player feedback has encouraged them to build on on what they have achieved so far. He further noted that the deal will allow them to grow the EAPT in the years to come by increasing guaranteed prize money and thus the number of players attracted to the poker tour’s events across the region.
Two main conclusions can be drawn from this latest announcement about partypoker’s activity in future. In the first place, it can be said that the online poker room clearly wants to leverage on the success of its live events. It was mere days ago when Argentina’s Maria Lampropoulos topped the field of the partypoker MILLIONS event with a guaranteed prize pool of £6 million and a first-place prize of £1 million. The Dusk Till Dawn-held tournament was utter success by all standards existing.
In the second place, partypoker, similarly to other gambling operators, has spotted the potential of Eastern Europe and wants to explore the region further. More and more Eastern European countries are opening their markets to international operations, which means that poker brands (and gambling operators as a whole) will be paying more and more attention to the opportunities to expand into these regulated markets.
partypoker and Poker Club Management’s partnership will be reflected in one more exciting live event – partypoker MILLIONS Russia. The tournament will be held on September 1-11 at Sochi Casino and Resort and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million. The event is expected to build on the success of both the inaugural partypoker MILLIONS at Dusk Till Dawn and of the partypoker LIVE Sochi.
