Hard Rock International Celebrates $1.5-Billion Hollywood Casino Expansion

News

Casino operator Hard Rock International detailed on Wednesday the ongoing expansion of its domestic flagship property Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. During a special guitar smashing ceremony to celebrate the progress of the $1.5-billion project, the international casino and café chain manager provided more information about what the renovation and upgrade will encompass.

Once construction is completed, the casino complex will be homed by a guitar-shaped tower that will soar up 450 feet into the sky, as revealed by the developer. And it promised that the building will be the first one to truly resemble an authentic guitar not just in the United States but also in the rest of the world. The idea about the shape was promoted by Jim Allen, the long-time Chairman of Hard Rock International.

The Casino Portion of the Upgraded Complex

When the ongoing renovation is completed, the casino portion of the resort will be double its original size and will feature much more gambling options than before. The gaming floor is planned to offer a total of 3,267 slot machines and 178 table games. A new poker room occupying 18,000 square feet of space will also be part of the expansion of the casino floor.

Here it is important to note that the gambling venue is a popular destination for poker enthusiasts and professionals not just from around Florida, but also from across the US and other parts of the world as it is a frequent host to different major poker festivals, including the World Poker Tour.

Other Expansion Details

The multi-million dollar expansion at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will also include the opening of new retail and food and beverage facilities. What is more, as part of the project, the resort’s existing 5,500-seat live entertainment facility will be replaced with a 7,000-seat one with a theater-style configuration of the seats. Demolition of the old venue is set for March 2018.

Aside from the guitar-shaped tower, the renovated complex will also feature a seven-story building by the pool. Hotel rooms at both towers will bring the total count to over 1,300. Rooms and suites at the main building will occupy at least 525 square feet.

A ten-acre pool complex with a lagoon-style pool will also be part of the expansion project. It will provide Bora Bora experience with private villas being positioned in the water and surrounded by spectacular waterfalls.

Other amenities included in the project will be a 41,000-square-foot foot spa and a 37-square-foot ball room that will bring the meeting space at the resort to a total of 141,000 square feet.

The renovated and expanded complex is slated to open doors in mid-2019, right ahead of Super Bowl LIV, which is to take place at Hard Rock Stadium in early 2020.

Hard Rock International said on Wednesday that the massive project will generate new jobs for the region and will bring numerous economic benefits. It is believed that more than 2,000 temporary jobs will be created during construction and 3,000 permanent ones, once construction work is completed and the renovated property is relaunched.
