Today, in a meeting with the New York Gaming Facility Location Board, the Empire Resorts and its owned company EPR Properties presented their plan for building a massive casino resort some ninety miles from New York. The project is estimated to cost around $1 billion and will be situated in Thompson Town in Sullivan County.
The resort will be called Montreign Resort Casino and will be located on the Adelaar site. It will be equipped with all the needed luxuries for the four-star and four-diamond standards of Forbes. The building will have 18 stories with a hotel and entertainment hall including an 80,000 square feet casino with over 60 tables and over 2,000 slot machines. The hotel includes 391 grandeur rooms, and is architecturally designed to blend in with the natural surroundings of the Catskills area.
During an official presentation of the casino resort, members of the director’s board, including the Chief Executive Officer and the President of EPR, provided the audience with a thorough forty-five minute talk. It included all the data requested by the Location Board about environmental impact, prospective financial statistics and commercial impact statements.
EPR’s chairman added that the company is happy to have the chance to show the benefits of the Montreigh project to the Location Board. Mr. Pearlman explained that his team is confident that this entertainment complex will provide a four-season flow of tourists not only from around the state, but from other states as well, as the resort is not a typical casino but a state-of-the-art facility.
David Brain continued by explaining how the project has been carefully developed for years and a plan that is ready to be put in action in a matter of days has been prepared.
The resort will create thousands of new jobs and will invigorate new businesses. It will be part of the larger Adelaar site – a resort which includes a variety of entertainment options, such as indoor waterpark, adventure park, golf course, shopping centers and restaurants. Being part of Adelaar, the Montreign resort will not need to acquire many of the gambling licenses needed for a new, separate casino which will ease the documentation process.
The resort has also been granted a four-mile private track, where tourists can try out high-performance motorcycles and cars. In partnership with one of the largest motor clubs in Northeast U.S. – the Monticello Motor Club, the casino will be the only one in the region to offer its visitors such an attraction.
Another amazing feature the casino will offer is the specialties of the culinary genius Scott Conant, who will open his own restaurant at the casino resort. His restaurant, the Bistecca, will be completed by another Italian dining lounge – the Italian Steakhouse and will offer a complete palette of Italian cuisine, as well as wine choices from all over the world – from California to France and from New York to Chile.
Both the award-winning chef Scott Conant and the golf course planner Rees Jones were at the EPR official presentation.
