Victoria Coren Mitchell, the poker pro who became popular for having won two titles in the European Poker Tour, was the last player to leave PokerStars. The platform has already parted ways with several prominent players prior to Mitchell’s contract termination.
Having said that, it seems like PokerStars has a strong defendant. Daniel Negreanu, the poker star with indisputable skills, has recently provided the communities with an explanation why he will continue working in collaboration with PokerStars.
Both Negreanu’s fans and opponents know that he is a really straightforward person who would never try to avoid criticism and controversy. That is why Negreanu decided to announce on his blog why PokerStars’ decision to launch new games was a right one and why he would never follow the example of Victoria Coren Mitchell or Joe Cada.
At the beginning of his publication, Negreanu explained that before making an important decision, concerning his poker career, he always asks himself a number of questions and weighs the pros and cons after that.
Negreanu said that he is not likely to believe that the launch of the new games is something excessive or improper. He even said he does not think there is much difference between having his opponent in front of himself and taking part in the new games, released by PokerStars.
Negreanu totally disapproved of Mitchell’s stance that the new games make the gambling addiction issues more complicated. On the contrary, he believes that namely the poker pros are those who influence people to continue playing even when it is obvious that they have neither the skills nor the luck to win a life changing amount of money and become popular while the games released do not pose such a risk to players.
Although Negreanu does not agree with the reasons that made Victoria Mitchell leave the platform, he said he is convinced that she has asked herself a lot of questions and carefully reconsidered the situation. The poker pro also added that he considers Mitchell’s actions towards quitting something that she does not like anymore, to be praiseworthy.
In conclusion, the poker star said he realizes that he had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to become a widely recognized poker professional but he does not regret anything he has done in order to achieve this.
He admits that poker is a game that can have a pretty predatory nature but he has successfully found the happy medium between accumulating a decent amount of money through poker games and “giving back to the world”.
