It has just been announced that the long-awaited launch of the Golden Nugget casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana, will take place on Monday, December 8.
Tilman Fertitta, a well-known businessman, entrepreneur, and owner of the new gambling venue, shared that many customers had booked hotel rooms long before the opening day was announced. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Monday noon and it will be honored by local officials.
The project cost more than $700 million and this will be Fertitta’s fifth gambling venue, after he acquired Las Vegas and Laughlin-based Golden Nugget hotel and casino properties more than nine years ago. Later on, he purchased and renamed a Trump venue, based in Atlantic City. Not long ago, he also launched a casino in Biloxi.
Lake Charles has always been a popular destination for Houston-based fans of casino games. This is mainly due to its convenient location. Mr. Fertitta pointed out that 50,000 of all 60,000 people who had expressed interest in acquiring club cards live on this bank of the Sabine River.
He also commented on the fact that this is the closest venue where Texans can come and play some casino games. Fertitta shared that this new gambling facility is by no means inferior to those in Las Vegas.
During the past few days, construction crews took care of some final details, so as to make sure that the casino was absolutely ready for its opening ceremony.
The so-called L’Auberge Lake Charles Casino Resort, owned by Pinnacle, is located in close proximity to the new Golden Nugget venue. The two gambling facilities will be connected by means of a special boardwalk, so as for visitors to be able to easily reach them both.
Fertitta pointed out that there is no other place in the United States that offers two high-class casinos which are located so close to each other. He stated that his employees will make sure that all visitors will be offered the best service.
The Golden Nugget spreads over a 247-acre site. It features 740 luxurious rooms, large banquet hall, a meeting room, spa, volleyball courts, etc. In addition to this, an 18-hole golf course is expected to be launched in April.
The casino will offer to its visitors a total of 70 table games, a special poker room, and 1,600 slot machines.
Guests and visitors of the resort will be able to choose among various restaurants which will offer American, Italian, Asian, and Mexican cuisine. They will also be able to enjoy the shopping area with eight boutiques and gift shops. And last but not least, the Golden Nugget will feature several bars, which will be open 24/7.
The new casino and hotel facility is a division of Landry’s Inc. – a company owned solely by Mr. Fertitta.
