According to reliable sources, Cary Katz has made more political donations this year than Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn. Adelson is commonly recognised as an enemy of the online gambling legalisation. He donates huge sums of money in order to buy the good graces of federal candidates from all the states. However, Katz is the one who made the biggest investment in Nevada.
The information was released by the Center for Responsive Politics. The names of the main contributors are Thomas and Kathryn Ann Steyer but as far as the gambling industry is concerned, the amount, Katz has donated is twice the amount, donated by Adelson.
There are only three Nevadians among the first 100 contributors – Katz, Adelson and Wynn and they are respectively ranked at 36th , 83rd and 84th place.
Last year, Adelson said that he would do “whatever it takes” to ban the activities he considers to be harmful for the population of the States, namely the online gambling activities. However, Adelson didn’t make it clear what exactly his expression “whatever it takes” means and now, some authorities think that it resulted in $100 million donations made “under the table”.
It is a well known fact that money, donated to non – profit organisations can be hidden. Crossroads GPS, Americans for Prosperity, the Republican Jewish Coalition and the US Chamber of Commerce have all received money from Adelson, according to another source. Those who are well aware of the political views of Adelson or know him personally were not surprised that all these organisations have Republican interests.
Some think that although Cary Katz is not donating the huge amount to the Republican Party, it looks like that.
Katz is said to be a prominent and well established poker player who has been in the gambling industry for more than a decade. It is a common knowledge that this year was one of the best in his career. He cashed six times at the World Series of Poker and earned $1.3 million from the Big One for One Drop.
Katz is also popular for having found the College Loan Corporation 15 years ago. He used to be the Chief Executive Officer. Due to his ambitious and skilful leadership, the Corporation turn out to be a leader in providing mainly student loans.
Later on, Katz became a Principal of ELA Corporation and played an important role in the further growth and development of the company. Another thing he is recognised for is that he is a member of the Board of a non-profit organisation, called Stop Child Predators. He also has a degree in Business Administration, issued by the University of Georgia.
Cary Katz have gained considerable popularity when a videoclip, was released on YouTube and Katz was seen running aces into aces. He defeated Connor Drinnen and that victory remained as the most expensive in the poker history.
