Russell Sullivan from West Columbia, South Carolina, finally ended last night a dry run of nearly two years and captured his second career gold ring in a WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi $400 No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
The event took place on Tuesday and it was a roller coaster experience for the eventual winner. Sullivan entered the unofficial final table as the chip leader but had to fight for his tournament life a couple of times over the course of the final table.
But first things first, the single-day No-Limit Hold’em saw 152 entries buy the $400-worth slip and enter the event. They generated $50,160 for the prize pool. The top 18 finishers received a share of the money, min-cashes beginning from $673.
As mentioned earlier, Sullivan took part in an action-packed event and he had quite the run on his way to his second-ever WSOP Circuit victory.
The player surged into the chip lead at one point to lead the unofficial final table of ten with a stack of 461,000 in chips. Michael Monaghan with 415,000 and Braden Robinson with 280,000 rounded out top three at the time. Joseph Hebert came into the ten-handed final table as the short stack with 89,000 in chips.
Herbert Presses Forward

In the end, it was namely Herbert whom Sullivan faced heads-up. The former had built a formidable stack by that time, but the latter, having come that deep into the race, was ready to fight. And what a fight it was. Chips swung back and forth for the better part of two hours and play extended into the wee-wee hours.
A dangerous all-in confrontation helped Sullivan regain momentum and regain the chip lead shortly after. From that point on, things just kept going Sullivan’s way. And it took just a couple of hands until the name of the winner became clear. Herbert had to settle for the $8,370 second-place prize after a terrific run in the tournament.
As for Sullivan, he collected $13,539 to accompany his gold ring. As mentioned above, the player scored last night his second WSOP Circuit victory. He won his first gold ring in January 2017 when he emerged victorious in a $365 No-Limit Hold’em 30-Minute Levels event at Horseshoe Tunica for $20,018.
Despite being tired from the long day, Sullivan told WSOP staff that it felt amazing to “finally final-table something again and win.”
