The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida is closing out 2018 with the Fun in the Sun Poker Open, a five-day series aiming to bring together avid players and poker enthusiasts in the final days of another thrilling year for global poker.
The event will run from December 26 through December 30 at the host venue. This year, the Fun in the Sun Poker Open will feature five poker tournaments, four of which single-day ones and one three-day event. In comparison, last year’s edition of the series offered six events.
The Fun in the Sun Poker Open will kick off December 26 with a $250 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Big Stack with a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000. The tournament will be played over three days. That same event kicked off the 2017 edition of the series. It was Steven Bennett who emerged victorious last year to scoop a first-place prize of $15,133. This year’s winner will receive a seat into a Lucky Hearts Poker Open $2,500 Event #21.
On December 27, players will be able to enter the $130 No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Turbo. That tournament will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $15,000. Steve Olivier was crowned the victor of last year’s Deep Stack Turbo for $5,126 in prize money.
Bounty, Big Stack, and Main Event Coming Next

A $250 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Big Stack with $25,000 guaranteed will take place on the penultimate day of the series. That tournament, too, was part of the schedule of last year’s edition of the Fun in the Sun Poker Open. Julian Gallo took it down for a payday of $4,800.
Last but not least, the series will wrap up with the $560 Main Event that will be played on December 30. It will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $75,000. The tournament drew 197 entries this time last year who generated a prize pool of $98,500. It was Bill Farnan who emerged victorious. The player collected $21,848 after a two-way deal with his heads-up opponent Nathaniel Anderson.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will next play host to the annual Lucky Hearts Poker Open festival. The series will take place at the host casino from January 10 through January 22, with the $1,100 Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million running from January 17 through January 22.
