Triton Poker readies for its Montenegro return in May with ten poker events and multiple other surprises for those in attendance
The Triton Poker Super High Roller Series is returning to the tiny coastal republic of Montenegro bigger and better than ever before. The Maestral Casino & Resort will play host to the popular poker series from May 5 through May 17.
‘Bigger’ means ‘more’ in the upcoming edition of the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series. The poker festival at the Maestral will feature record ten poker events and No-Limit Hold’em, Short Deck Turbo, and Pot-Limit Omaha events on the schedule.
Buy-ins for the tournaments will range from €11,000 to €110,000 (HK$100,000 to HK$1 million). Each of the two Main Events that will take place within the Montenegro series will feature a buy-in fee of €110,000 (HK$1 million).
The No-Limit Hold’em Main Event is slated for May 8-10, while the Short Deck Main Event is set to kick off on May 15 and to run through May 17.
Malaysian businessman, philanthropist, and poker aficionado Richard Yong founded the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in 2015. Mr. Yong felt a gap in the exclusive poker tournament market for poker-loving businesspersons and professional high roller players. The businessman sought to fill that gap with his Triton Poker brand. Each edition of the series is set at premium locations around the world and attracts some of the biggest name in the world of poker.
Past Winners
Popular poker pro Jason Koon is one of the most accomplished Triton Poker Super High Roller Series players. During last year’s edition of the series in Montenegro, the player bested a field of 103 entries to take down the HK$1 million Short Deck Ante Only for a first-place prize of HK$28.102 million (approx. $3,579,836).
Aside from poker glory and a seven-figure payout, his triumph at Maestral Casino also earned him a role as a Triton Poker Ambassador. Commenting on the upcoming Montenegro series, the poker professional said that Montenegro is probably his favorite poker stop in the world and that he really looks forward to going back and playing again in the beautiful coastal nation.
Earlier this month, Koon captured a duo of titles from the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series on South Korea’s Jeju Island. The player first won the HK$1 million Short Deck Ante Only for $2.8 million and then emerged victorious in the HK$1 million Triton Refresh, good for $973,306 in prize money
Prominent poker pros to have also scooped titles from the Montenegro leg of the Triton Poker series include Phil Ivey, who claimed the HK$250,000 Short Deck Ante Only title for $604,992, and Mikita Badziakouski, who took down the HK$1 million Short Deck Main Event for $2.5 million.
