Popular American business magnate Steve Wynn revealed more details about his Everett project. The developer shared that he had given up on the original design of the resort. Instead, the new building will sport a slightly curved shape, very similar to that of his Encore and Wynn venues in Las Vegas.
Mr. Wynn stated that all those who “want the excitement of Las Vegas” in Massachusetts will be particularly happy. He also pointed out that despite the initial plan involved the construction of no more than 500 rooms, the venue will actually feature a total of 630 luxurious rooms.
Due to the changes in the original plan for the Everett resort, its cost increased to $1.75 billion. The project was estimated at $1.6 billion back in September when Wynn was announced to have won the casino license for a gambling venue in the Greater Boston area.
It was also stated that Wynn Resorts will probably close the deal for the resort site in the first days of 2015. In addition, construction is expected to begin no earlier than June. As previously reported, the area where the gambling venue is to be located had once been an industrial zone. Due to this, it had been seriously polluted and currently needs to be thoroughly cleaned up. Mr. Wynn promised that the cleaning procedures will take place when the weather becomes warmer, i.e. sometime in February or March.
According to the company’s managers, the venue will hopefully open doors in the second half of 2017.
Mr. Wynn’s attention to detail is proverbial. He works with popular architect DeRuyter Butler on the design of the Everett project. As Wynn himself shared, they have paid special attention to the hotel lobby. It will be extremely spacious with its 30-foot ceilings. Visitors and guests will be able to enjoy two large indoor gardens once they enter the premises of the venue. Apart from these, the lobby will feature various restaurants and stores.
A midlevel floor will be built above the lobby. Visitors will be given the opportunity to choose between a coffee shop and a bar, which will be positioned at opposite sides of the floor in question.
Mr. Wynn decided that the building’s facade will actually be a glass wall. It is planned to be no less than 26 feet high and 130 feet long. It will offer an excellent view to the Mystic River and the skyline of Boston.
The Everett resort will not be intended for fans of gambling solely. Mr. Wynn shared that it will be a place where you can “take the children […] on Sunday”
As for the casino, it will feature thousands of slot machines and 150 gaming tables. There will be an underground parking garage right beneath the gambling facility.
The hotel is planned to offer 150 luxurious suites. The venue’s standard rooms will be very similar to those at Wynn Las Vegas.
